About Drummoyne

Drummoyne serves as the administrative center for the City of Canada Bay, located 6 kilometers west of Sydney's CBD. The suburb sits on a peninsula surrounded by the Parramatta River on three sides.

The 2021 Census recorded 12,011 residents with a median age of 42 years. The gender split shows 52.8% female and 47.2% male, reflecting a stable residential community.

History of Drummoyne

William Wright, a merchant and whaler, purchased land in 1853 and built Drummoyne House in Georgian Classical style. He named the property after his family home at Drumoyne on Clyde in Scotland.

The area developed as a residential suburb with ferry connections to Sydney. In 2000, Drummoyne and Concord councils merged to form the City of Canada Bay municipality.

Drummoyne Oval sits on the Parramatta River and hosts rugby, cricket, and Australian rules football. The oval was constructed in 1931 as a depression project.
