Denistone is a suburb located approximately 16 kilometers north-west of Sydney's Central Business District in the City of Ryde local government area. It is bordered by East Denistone to the north, West Denistone to the west, Eastwood to the south, and Epping to the northeast.
As of the 2021 Census, Denistone had a population of approximately 7,000 residents, characterized by its quiet residential streets and established community atmosphere.
The suburb was inhabited by Aboriginal peoples before European settlement in the early 1800s. Denistone was named after Denis Lagrange, an early landowner who received grants in the area. The suburb developed gradually through the 19th century, primarily as a farming and market gardening area.
The railway line was constructed through the area in the 1880s, though Denistone station wasn't established until later. Early industries included orchards and small-scale farming operations taking advantage of the fertile soil.
Denistone offers several attractions, including Denistone Park, a popular recreational area with playgrounds, sports facilities, and walking paths. The suburb features several heritage buildings and tree-lined streets showcasing early 20th-century architecture.
